What Is Involved in a Kitchen Renovation

Renovating your kitchen is one of the most significant home improvements tasks a homeowner will undertake. Mainly because of the complexity involved and the multiple stages and tradespeople involved. We will ensure that each step of your renovation is perfectly coordinated will help make the process stress-free with a spectacular outcome.

To develop a plan, talk with one of the design professionals at Hills Robes and Kitchens. We will explain your renovation process and what needs to be done. This will help assist you with organising your tradespeople and booking them in at the correct stage of the renovation, and all necessary items and materials are bought.

Our team has listed some key steps to guide you through how the renovation process works:

Designing Your Kitchen

The most exciting step, aside from the finished kitchen, is the design process. Take your time with this process. Explore all layout options and material options with your kitchen designer. Taking the time now will ensure that you are left with a result that you are happy with.

At Hills Robes and Kitchens, we use specialised kitchen design software. Watch your dream kitchen become a reality with our expert kitchen design team. All presented in 3D helping you to visualize and plan.

Everything from your cabinets through to your appliances is included in your design plan in your desired colour palette to give you an accurate representation of just how the finished product will look.

Demolition of Your Existing Kitchen

Once we’ve ordered your kitchen cabinets, we will be able to give you a date for delivery. Before the installation of your new cabinets, your old ones will need to be removed; this is a great time to dust off the takeaway menus as your kitchen will be out of action for a while.

Whether you decide to remove your existing kitchen cabinets yourself or hire a tradesperson to do so, you’ll need to hire either a plumber or electrician to disconnect all of your appliances, tap, sink and gas outlets before your cabinets are removed.

Beginning the Building Work

If your kitchen design involves things such as the removal of walls or perhaps opening up a new window, this is the stage of the renovation where the majority of the structural work will take place, as well as rough installs for any plumbing and electrical work. Ensure that these works are scheduled to be completed before the installation of new cabinets.

Installing New Cabinets and Bench Tops

This is where things start to get exciting. Once your necessary building work is complete, our professional cabinet makers will install your new cabinets. This usually takes anywhere between one and three days, depending on the size of your kitchen.

Hills offers the complete range of benchtops ranging from marble, laminates, granite and engineered stone options ensuring you’re spoilt for choice.

Splashbacks

Once your benchtops have been installed, you can go ahead with your splashback installation. At Hills Robes and Kitchens we pride ourselves on offering our customers will an extensive colour range to help you achieve your desired design. Choose from stylish and easy to clean glass or stainless steel materials.

Painting

This step should be completed once everything else in your renovation is complete. This way you will be able to choose a colour scheme that complements your new cabinetry and appliances.

Lastly, but by no means least, is enjoying the design you created. At Hills Robes and Kitchens, we commit ourselves to building designs alongside our clients that can be loved and lived in, while remaining modern and fresh for years to come.
